Terms & Conditions
Last Updated: 8 May 2025 | Kala Siam, Bangkok, Thailand
1. About These Terms
These Terms and Conditions govern the relationship between Kala Siam ("we", "us", "our"), a watch repair workshop located at 47 Charoen Krung Road, Bang Rak, Bangkok 10500, Thailand, and any person ("you", "the customer") who submits a watch or other timepiece for service, or who makes use of our website at kalasiam.sbs.
By bringing a watch in for service or by submitting an enquiry through our website, you acknowledge that you have read and understood these terms. We aim to keep things straightforward and transparent — if anything is unclear, please ask before proceeding.
2. Service Enquiries & Estimates
All initial estimates are provided in good faith based on a visual inspection or a description provided by you. A formal written estimate will be given once your watch has been examined by our watchmaker. We do not begin work until you have reviewed and accepted the estimate in writing or by confirmed message.
For vintage or complex movements, we may identify additional requirements during disassembly that were not apparent at the point of intake. In such cases, we will pause work and contact you to discuss options before continuing. You are under no obligation to proceed with work beyond the originally agreed scope.
3. Customer Responsibilities
3.1 Accurate Information
You are responsible for providing accurate information about the watch, including any known faults, prior repairs, or modifications. This helps us assess the piece properly and avoid unforeseen issues during service.
3.2 Proof of Ownership
By submitting a timepiece for service, you confirm that you are the legal owner of the item or that you have the owner's explicit permission to do so. We reserve the right to decline a service request if we have reasonable cause to question ownership.
3.3 Collection Timeframe
Completed watches should be collected within 60 days of notification. After this period, a storage fee may apply. Watches left uncollected for more than 12 months, despite reasonable contact attempts on our part, may be disposed of or donated in accordance with applicable Thai law.
4. Service Timeline
Estimated completion times are provided as a general guide only and are not binding commitments. Timelines can be affected by the availability of parts, the complexity of the movement, or workshop workload. We will keep you informed of any meaningful delays and will always aim to be transparent about the reasons.
5. Parts & Materials
Where possible, we use original or equivalent-quality parts. For vintage watches, we take particular care to preserve original components and will discuss any part substitution with you before proceeding. We do not fit parts without your knowledge or agreement.
Parts sourced specifically for your watch may be charged separately and are non-refundable once fitted, except in cases where a fault attributable to us is identified.
6. Liability
6.1 Pre-Existing Conditions
We take careful intake notes and photograph watches upon receipt. We are not liable for pre-existing damage, wear, or conditions that were present before the watch was submitted for service, provided these are documented at intake.
6.2 Scope of Liability
Our liability is limited to the value of the agreed service fee. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or sentimental losses. In the event of damage caused through our negligence, we will discuss a fair resolution with you directly and in good faith.
6.3 Antique & Fragile Pieces
Very old or fragile watches carry inherent risks during disassembly. Where such risks exist, we will discuss them with you in advance. If you choose to proceed, you accept that certain outcomes — such as the brittleness of aged components — are beyond our control.
7. Payment
Payment is due upon collection of your watch. Prices quoted are in Thai Baht (฿) and are inclusive of any applicable service fees. We accept cash and major electronic payment methods. We do not require a deposit for standard services, though this may be requested for high-value parts orders.
In the event that you choose not to proceed after an estimate is provided, a modest assessment fee may apply to cover the time spent on inspection.
8. Post-Service Care
Following a service, we will provide a brief condition note. We recommend following any care instructions included. Please note that certain external factors — including exposure to strong magnetic fields, physical impact, or water beyond a watch's rated depth — can affect performance and are outside the scope of any service assessment.
9. Website Use
The content on our website at kalasiam.sbs is provided for informational purposes only. We aim to keep it accurate and up to date, but we cannot warrant that all information is error-free at all times. Service details, pricing, and availability may change without prior notice on the website.
Unauthorised reproduction, redistribution, or commercial use of any content from this website is not permitted without our written consent.
10. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Thailand. Any disputes arising from services rendered or from the use of this website will be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Bangkok, Thailand.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of our services after any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
